The Spooktacular Spectacular Family Film Festival is the new film festival for filmmakers brought to you by The Fear Faire LLC. This Film Festival is focused on spooky, family friendly films that will be screened at the series of festivals from The Fear Faire in 2024. Films will debut at the festival at the National Orange Show Fair April 17-21, 2024 and will then tour with the Spooktacular Spectacular event for the entire year of 2024. Films chosen to be a part of this festival will be a main attraction at our family friendly event that will be going to a series of fairs, usually with a high traffic attendance rate.

Rules & Terms

The Spooktacular Spectacular is an exposition of independent filmmakers specializing in spooky kids films. As an entry, films chosen to be a part of the event can range in genre including - chilling, sci-fi, fantasy, music, shorts, and animated films. Films chosen for the event will be screened publicly. They must be rated for general audiences.

Films that are not in English must include English subtitles.

All submissions for consideration must be made available via a private online screener link (no physical screeners will be accepted or viewed).

All film entries must be submitted no later than November 1, 2023

Entrants that are reviewed and whose work will be screened at Film Festival (and subsequently the tour), will be notified and awarded tickets to the event and to the filmmaker mixer.

All entries must be within topic and genre of either Kids spooky, science fiction, fantasy, alternative rock music, or animation.

Public screening of films require that films are open for the general public.

    I am honored that my short film, The Devil's Tromping Ground, was screened at the festival. Denise Griffin/Event Curator was great at keeping me informed about what I needed to do. I had planned on attending, but an unexpected appendicitis derailed my plans. If you're contemplating what film festivals to submit your project to, I highly recommend this one. This is a California festival. I live in South Carolina, I'm not "connected", and I'm not wealthy. But my film was selected. That's something worth thinking about.

    Although I was not able to attend, and my film, Ed Gein Interview, did not make the final cut for the fest… it did get an honorable mention! I’ll take what I can get, right! Anyhow it was fun to watch remotely how the event unfolded. Everyone involved seemed very enthusiastic and having fun. Good communication too! I would definitely recommend this film fest!
