Spiqan Bulan received her BA in the Department of Mass Communication at Chang Jung Christian University, and is currently studying in the Indigenous Master's Program in Culture and Education Law at the National Taipei University of Education. She has over 20 years of experience in television production and broadcasting, and has served as producer, deputy manager, and team leader of the Programming Department at Taiwan Indigenous Television. Spiqan has produced Indigenous language education shows in 42 languages, as well as a wide range of programs and films, including: the short documentary Shamans of Gaya; Ina’s Kitchen, a program about Indigenous food cultures; an intergenerational children’s show Tahu: Let’s Make Fire; and Indigenous dance competition show Super Dance, which was shortlisted for Taiwan’s national television awards. Most recently, she produced Indigenous language program Alang: My Name in her own Mother Tongue. Throughout her long career she has remained deeply committed to advancing and elevating Indigenous media, and works to share her experience with upcoming Indigenous media makers. Looking forward, she hopes Indigenous media will continue to be a voice for Indigenous communities in Taiwan, preserving and passing on Indigenous knowledge to future generations.
