Hanne Schillemans and Ralph Timmermans are a creative duo exploring the fragile boundaries between movement, music, environment and film. Their work delves into the raw emotional landscapes of human existence, embracing themes of solitude, resilience, and the delicate tension between resistance and surrender.
Hanne Schillemans is a Belgian dancer, choreographer, and performer with a background in contemporary dance. Trained at Fontys Academy of the Arts in the Netherlands, she has performed internationally with renowned companies such as United Cowboys, De Munt/La Monnaie, and Teatro Comunale di Bologna. Her artistic vision is deeply rooted in physical expression and the exploration of human emotions through movement.
Ralph Timmermans is a Dutch composer, music producer, and filmmaker known for his evocative soundscapes and multidisciplinary approach to storytelling. With a background in composition and music production, he has created scores for theater, film, and performance art, blending electronic and acoustic elements to craft deeply atmospheric narratives.
Together, they co-founded [SPIN][ECHO], a performance art collective that brings together dancers, musicians, philosophers, and scientists to create interdisciplinary works. Their artistic synergy led them to venture into film direction, where they combine dance, music, and visual aesthetics.
Their short film Home is a testament to their unique directorial style, using movement and sound as primary narrative tools. As directors, they seek to strip storytelling down to its bare essence—gesture, sound, and silence—allowing space for interpretation, emotion, and reflection. Their work does not impose; it invites. It lingers in the mind like an echo, whispering of the spaces we inhabit and the ones we leave behind.
