The South Sound Experimental Film Fest is a celebration of experimental film-making from local artists in Washington & Oregon.
.
Our intention is to harbor a community for the exploration and development of the creative potentialities of the growing medium.
.
Our mission is to platform independent work which may otherwise get pushed to the fringe due to identity, insufficient resources, or qualifications of practice or technique.
.
Our first festival in 2021, held in partnership with the Northwest Film Forum, was a great success. We are extremely grateful for the amazing support we receive from NWFF, and thanks to their ongoing sponsorship, we are excited to present our fourth year of showcasing experimental independent art and cinema and from the PNW.

Through our collaborations, we are able to contribute to a vast international network that promotes experimentation, the development of new film techniques, and the exploration of contemporary hybrid forms of filmmaking.

we do not generate awards and/or prizes. we believe in the celebration of the work.

S.S.E.F.F. (South Sound Experimental Film Fest) is actively seeking submissions for its fourth year run!

We ask that submissions be from artists local to the Pacific Northwest but we do consider films outside of the area.

Films must be no longer than 30 minutes.

There is no restrictions for format, although films must be able to be digitized and sent in H.264 .mp4 or .mov format for projections.

What are we looking for?
BIPOC film-makers, gender nonconforming, trans and nonbinary storytelling, radical documentation pertaining to the Pacific Northwest region, unconventional or hand-crafted film making and films diverse in their narratives and/or techniques.

Submission deadline is October 15th, 2024.

We ask $8.00 per submission. All funds go towards running the festival.

For a fee waiver please email: southsoundfilmfest@gmail.com

Selections will be made by October 31st, 2024

Festival runs Saturday, November 23rd and Sunday, November 24th, 2024

  • I can't recommend SSEFF enough. It is run by passionate artists that truly care about highlighting local filmmakers and their work. They are also incredibly accommodating if anything comes up and respond right away. It was an honor to be selected among so many talented filmmakers.
