SOUND & VISION is an open mic night. But this time, for filmmakers.

A monthly showcase of grassroots filmmaking; the film night celebrates the short film medium whilst providing an alternative to the festival circuit. If you want to show your work on the big screen without the financial or competitive pressure of the festival scene, then Sound & Vision is the place for you.

We provide a safe space that champions creativity, diversity and experimentation. We aim to create an environment that honours the blood, sweat and tears that go into truly independent filmmaking, without adding to the financial burden.

The event is hosted at the beautiful and unique ActOne Cinema. The screening will be followed by networking drinks at the café bar. Here, you can meet like-minded individuals, discuss each other's work and sow seeds for future collaboration.

Whether it’s your first film or your 30th, you can showcase your work free from competition.

Sound & Vision is a non-competitive event.

Rules & Terms

It is completely free to submit your film to Sound & Vision.

If your film is selected, you are still required to purchase the £7 ticket in order to attend the event. This helps us keep submissions free.

As Sound & Vision is a monthly event, we accept submissions on a rolling basis.

Sound & Vision welcomes all forms and genres.

We are only able to accept short films that are 25 minutes and under.

Any film not in the English language should provide subtitles/ captions.

Only one film will be considered per filmmaker for each monthly event.

If your film is not selected immediately, it may still be in contention for future screenings.
