Sophie Krieg graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Motion Pictures from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in summer 2021 and subsequently realised the heartfelt project "Women of Rwanda", supported by the German funding BKM and Hessenfilm.
Before graduating in 2016, she spent a year doing voluntary service in the Rwandan capital Kigali and worked for a local NGO. There she met, among others, the protagonist of the documentary, Sarah Uwase.
During her film studies, she made several short documentaries and travelled to Iraq during her practical semester to film there. She produced the first 30-minute documentary "Scheitern ist Sexy" (Failure is Sexy) in cooperation with the Theatre Darmstadt. After two semesters abroad at the CIT in Cork, Ireland, Sophie received her first nominations and awards for the short documentary "Let's Talk About It" at festivals such as "Latest Visions" for International Women's Day. Many of her films are influenced by feminist approaches.
