His father, Sujit Kumar Jana, and mother, Manasi Jana Das, are both respected school teachers who nurtured him with discipline, wisdom, compassion, and cultural awareness. During childhood evenings, his father narrated stories from the Mahabharata, Ramayana, the Puranas, and the legends of Goddess Durga. Those moments became Somanjan’s first introduction to cinematic imagination and dramatic storytelling. His father also created handmade statues and artistic figures, inspiring him toward visual expression.

Somanjan completed his early education at Khodambari Primary School before appearing for his Madhyamik examination from Rankinipur High School. Later, he completed Higher Secondary education from Reapapa Adarsha Vidyapeeth. Though academically disciplined, his deepest passion always belonged to the world of creativity. From an early age, he immersed himself in painting, drawing, acting, poetry, storytelling, music, and cinematography.
He gradually developed a storytelling style that blends mythology, spirituality, psychological realism, emotional depth, and cinematic grandeur. Inspired by Bengali literature, Indian philosophy, folk traditions, theatre, and international cinema, he started building a creative language that combines poetic sensitivity with visual imagination.
