Soleil Space is a media company based in Brooklyn NY that aims to shine a light on the film and television creative communities of the Global South diasporas of Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. Our mission is to achieve a more equitable and representative global media landscape.
Short Film Saturdays (SFS) is our virtual screening series hosted on YouTube Live, which gives our audience an opportunity to discover some of the Global South diaspora’s most promising creators for live short film screenings followed by Q&A. It takes place three Saturdays per month and after every SFS, the live Q&A session is posted on the Soleil Space YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/soleilspace). Films are not posted or saved.

We are proud to have featured critically acclaimed films from various genres that have won awards at sought-after film festivals like the Venice Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival Toronto International Film Festival, Africa Movie Academy Awards, Festival du court métrage de Lille (France), San Diego International Film Festival, Palm Springs International ShortFest, amongst many others.
For select featured events, we also partner with our programming and editorial partners like Third Horizon Film Festival, Caribbean Beat Magazine, MIME (Moving Images Middle east), and Nollywood Week Paris.

We are not a film festival, so following acceptance, we will reach out to you to schedule your Short Film Saturdays appearance in accordance with our available programming schedule. During the SFS event, we’ll be featuring your selected film entries and a live Q&A with the host and the audience.
Once your Q&A video goes live on our YouTube channel, we’ll also be sharing metrics from your event.
With over 5,000 viewers each week on YouTube, through SFS, we aim to lift up underrepresented voices from the Global South regions of Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East that are not often seen, authentically represented, or well understood in the global mainstream media and there’s no better way to do that than via short films.
Our goal is to provide a lasting space for our creator community to connect with the audiences who want to see them and for whom they were intended.
