Skye Nakamura is a filmmaker based in her hometown of Los Angeles, California. She started her career in the industry as an actor and has recently broadened her horizons to producing, directing, and screenwriting.
“Lost & Found,” a one-minute film that Skye wrote, co-directed and shot with her daughter, Elle Nakamura, won 5 awards in the Darion D’Anjou One Minute Film School – August 2021 Film Competition, including Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and Best Sound.
Skye is excited about developing her cinematography skills using the recently-released iPhone 13 Pro as her film, "Lost & Found" was shot on an iPhone 11.
She is producing, writing, and directing dramatic and comedic films, especially those that tell the stories and experiences of Asians and Asian Americans as they are still grossly underrepresented in film and television.
One of her top projects in development is an indie short film, "Good Morning Bonsai," about a successful businesswoman who, in her struggle to survive COVID isolation, reconnects with her late father and love for bonsai and is subsequently able to redefine her identity and forge forward with a new purpose in life.
