Sitou Adventus is a visual artist and filmmaker whose work weaves architecture, oral traditions, and cultural memory into powerful cinematic expressions. With a background in art and architecture, his practice centers on uncovering underrepresented narratives, particularly within marginalized diasporas, through a visual and sonar sensorial lens.
Drawing from his Togolese heritage and the diasporic experience, Adventus explores themes of spirituality, identity, and intergenerational memory. His debut film, ZĀGBÉTO, is a poetic homage to West African folklore—a visual symphony of dance, ritual, and myth that interrogates the complex tensions between tradition and postcolonial modernity.
Rooted in storytelling traditions and shaped by his architectural sensibilities, Adventus crafts immersive worlds that invite audiences to witness history not as a distant past, but as a living, evolving presence. His work challenges dominant narratives, opening space for cultural nuance and deeper representation.
ZĀGBÉTO marks the beginning of his journey in cinema—a bold and emotionally resonant statement that signals the arrival of a singular voice in contemporary filmmaking.
