Simone Marcelli was born in Arezzo in 1970. Majored in Contemporary History at Alma Mater Bologna University, he works as videoreporter and documentary director. He is the director and author of the feature documentary film "In viaggio con Luca" a sort of artistic biography of Luca Ronconi, the famous italian theatre director, Éphémère - La bellezza inevitabile, 2017 (Éphémère – The Inevitable Beauty), and of the short documentary film “A. Wildt. Il Marmo e l’Anima”, 2015 (A. Wildt. The Marble and the Soul), made on the occasion of the exhibition on the Milanese artist at the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris (April 2015). He is a founding member of the Cultural Association La Catrina, a no-profit association dedicated to the promotion of the audiovisual culture. With its band Catrina Producciones, the association makes documentaries dedicated to the world of arts. In 2020 he directed "Occident Express" a feature film with Ottavia Piccolo based on the theatrical perfomance written by Stefano Massini..
With Éphémère" he won the best documentary award at Salento International Film Festival in 2018.
