Shriekfest is one of the best festivals out there. Denise and her team always deliver an amazing event. We were so happy to be selected for the 2018 fest and although we couldn't attend in person, we felt very connected to the Shriekfest community and to fellow filmmakers.

Shriekfest has been one of the most communicative and organised festivals I have had my short film selected for. Sadly I could not attend this year, but I can only imagine what the atmosphere would have been like from afar - and I'm very jealous of those who got to attend! You can really tell how much passion Denise and the team put into this event. There is also a real desire to make all the filmmakers feel like one big community. I would thoroughly recommend this festival!

Niall, thank you so much for the sweet words! It was an honor to include your talent in this year's fest! I look forward to the day when I actually get to meet you in person! Welcome to the Shriekfest family!

What a fun festival to attend, and a worthy competition to enter! Communication for both the competition and the festival was amazing and constant. Any questions I had were answered quickly by Denise, personally.

The emphasis seems to be on building an indie horror community, and Denise pulls it off. There are numerous events that bring the participants together, and mingling, meeting, and networking is easy because EVERYONE THERE IS SO NICE. They are all really interested in talking horror, talking movies and creativity. I'm generally a wallflower in events like this, but even I had numerous great discussions with filmmakers. You leave the festival inspired, ready to get to work on your next piece.

Judging by the films I watched, the talent level is high, and I'm proud to be part of the Shriekfest family.

  • Had a great time at this festival. Great communication from Denise and hospitality. As a filmmaker within the the shorts line-up collection, it would had been great to have a Q&A session following all the showings to answer questions with the audience and fellow filmmakers but I understand if festival time restrictions prevented it. It would had been a great addition to the experience. A bit more festival signage from the road would had been great as we got a little lost being from out of town. Overall a great festival to submit and attend!

Thank you Adolpho! The signage is not allowed on the lot, unfortunately...the only downside of screening on the lot. :) And the reason for no Q&A this year was I chose to screen more shorts rather than less with a Q&A...I figured filmmakers would much rather be in the fest than not due to time constraints with a Q&A. :) It was great having involved this year and I look forward to your future projects!
