As a frequent destination for making horror films, Otsego County and Film Otsego host an annual Shock-Toberfest film festival for horror or thriller movies in shorts and features categories. The event takes place at Foothills Performing Arts & Civic Center in Oneonta, New York, 170 miles NW of New York City, in the beautiful northern Catskill Mountains.

Foothills is also a QPF.

Oneonta has been the site for many horror films recently, including Popeye the Slayer Man and Ouija Witch, giving the City of the Hills the additional nickname of Horrorville.

Audience Favorite Awards are given out for short and feature length films.

The Horrorville Award is given out to a film made locally in Otsego County.

Filmmakers must plan to attend the event, which in 2025 is Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at Foothills PAC in Oneonta, New York.
