Shir Ariya is a UK-based filmmaker from Thailand, currently studying on the Directing Fiction course at The NFTS.
From an early age, she developed a love for writing short stories and scripts. In 2017, she moved to London to study English Literature and Film at King’s College London. In 2020, she enrolled in a Screenwriting degree at the London Film School. There, she worked on a number of short films as a director, writer, producer, and production designer.
In 2022, she wrote and directed ‘The Stain’, a dark comedy short film. In early 2023, she wrote ‘The Bull’ an absurd drama short film shot in Belgium starring Maaike Cafmeyer and Wim Willaert, and co-wrote ‘The Farm’ a dark comedy short film shot in Brazil starring Tom Stourton.
In 2023, she wrote and directed her second short film, an absurd comedy called ‘I’m Interesting I Swear’. She is currently submitting it to festivals. In her free time, she is working on a new script she plans to find funding for and direct in the coming year.
