Shawn Miller is an award-winning filmmaker whose work blends striking visuals with intimate, human-centered storytelling. With nearly four decades in the arts, his career spans theater, television, corporate production, and independent film, combining technical expertise with emotional depth.
He began his creative journey in 1986 as an actor, performing in community and regional theater before moving into television and feature films. That early foundation as a performer continues to shape his perspective as a director and editor, giving him a strong sensitivity to actors and a deep respect for the collaborative process. In 1999, Shawn transitioned into corporate video production and post-production, expanding his skill set to include editing, visual effects, and large-scale content creation.
As the founder of Radio Tribe Productions, Shawn is dedicated to telling stories that center on underrepresented voices and create space for meaningful dialogue. His films often use visual effects not for spectacle alone, but to reflect inner states of being and transform emotion into imagery.
His recent short film, Shayla, exemplifies this approach. The story follows a 16-year-old African American girl as she navigates bullying, identity, and resilience. The film has screened internationally and garnered multiple honors, including Best Visual Effects, Best Young Actress, and Best Coming-of-Age Film.
Currently, Shawn is developing Black Iris, a socially relevant superhero story with ambitious production values and cultural resonance, while also expanding Echo 9, a hard science fiction universe that blends speculative concepts with tactical realism and questions of identity, ethics, and technology.
Across all genres, Shawn’s focus remains constant: to create films that move audiences, spark conversation, and linger long after the credits roll.
