Second Daughter is a young female-led independent event for short films and music videos celebrating dark, female-centric narratives across all genres.

We are excited to invite submissions for the next edition! Our first event was sold out in October and we are so happy to return for a second event in April 2025.

This edition's theme is:

'𝔦 π”žπ”ͺ 𝔱π”₯𝔒 π”Ÿπ”’π”žπ”°π”± 𝔦 𝔴𝔬𝔯𝔰π”₯𝔦𝔭'

This is open to interpretation by filmmakers and creatives, but work could explore human/animal duality, vanity, self-indulgence, ferality, self-sabotage, power/reclamation of power, criminality - or anything else you believe could fit the brief! All works must have a female protagonist or female ensemble.

We champion female filmmakers but this event is open to everyone.

The live screening will take place on Friday 18th April at The Bath House in Hackney Wick, London, home to the first edition.

Following the screening there will be a talk with the filmmakers, then there’s plenty of time to chat and network, and grab a drink or some food at the bar, until close at midnight.

Our second edition is non-competitive.
