Sandy Daley infuses passion into her projects and focuses primarily on female-driven stories and issues. She is a favoured guest on talk and radio programs, and is known for speaking her mind on a wide range of topics.
Daley was the star of Another Planet, the first feature film written, produced and directed by a black woman in Canada: Christene Browne. Film critics have described Daley as being as relatable as Susan Sarandon, combined with the range and charisma of Angela Bassett. Daley has appeared in numerous films. Her acting credits include The Sweetest Thing, where Daley showed remarkable versatility by playing a 70-year-old woman.
Daley’s syndicated column, ‘Real Talk With Sandy’, was published in New York, Toronto and Barbados. She won the Spirit Award for Favourite Columnist in 2009, which was handed out at Citi Fields in New York City.
Daley is currently in pre-development phase of a television series based on her first book. Daley is also currently working on other projects, including Untamed, The Wright Girl and Daddy’s Not Around: DNA: which was recently screened in Toronto at the Imagine Cinemas
Daley is also an advocate for social justice and women’s rights, and is the founder of the Whose Body Is it, Really? Empowerment Symposium. The symposium focuses on prevention of sexual violence against women. The symposium was first highlighted at Centennial College (where she won the Governor’s Award). Daley’s symposium is now slated for other colleges and universities across the GTA.
Daley's new play, "Chronicles of a Black Woman" is being screened this summer at the Toronto Fringe Festival.
