Samay Bhattacharya’s first film as an Indie film maker, was a short film titled “TEN PAST TWELVE”, which won the Critic's Award at Manhattan Shorts, India. It was also judged the Best film in Festember NIT Trichy.
He has worked as an assistant director under the well-known Producer/ Director Shoojit Sircar for six years. During this period he assisted on more than 100 commercials like Reliance, Airtel, Xoom.com, Chevrolet Beat, Mahindra Bike, Sony IPL and also the much acclaimed feature film “VICKY DONOR”.
He passed out from Xavier Institute of Communications with a Graduation Diploma in Digital Animation. He has been involved in the field of entertainment since he was a child through many theater workshops at Prithvi Theater. As a teenager he acted in a play titled “AHAM” for the theater group Pravah owned by Mr. Neeraj Kabi. He also handled the production for the same group in a play titled “HAROUN & THE SEA OF STORIES”. As a child artist he acted in the well- known television serial “AMANAT.
