Sam Thor is a writer/filmmaker who’s spent his last couple years in LA soaking up as much experience as possible while working on numerous productions, most recently as a Showrunner’s Assistant for FX’s The Patient. Before that, Sam was on the production team for Netflix’s Me Time, Amazon’s Goliath, BET’s Real Husbands Of Hollywood, as well as a script reader for Diverso’s Minority Report Fellowship and a Script PA for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver back when he went to college in New York. He also runs a biweekly writer’s group that has lasted throughout the pandemic.
As a writer, Sam balances between his two loves, dark family dramas and colorful sci-fi thrillers. While the main goal is to always create an engrossing and entertaining tale, Sam’s background as one of the few LGBTQ kids in his conservative Jewish community always finds its way into his stories. Because of that, underdog stories, anecdotes about perseverance and celebration of one’s life are usual ideas in his scripts. Multiple years into his writing career, that joy of putting narratives together has not been lost, and he maintains a positive outlook towards the future of his writing career.
