Sally Martin, with roots from Kenya, is a passionate non-profit leader and community builder committed to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities. With a deep understanding of the challenges faced by underserved populations, Sally founded the Valid Dreams Foundation out of her passion for people and dedicated her career to advocating for social change and fostering inclusive societies. She values social justice, sustainable development, empowerment, and gender equality. Sally devotes herself to working with equity-deserving individuals, communities, and institutions while empowering women in BIPOC communities to hone their voices and achieve their full potential. Sally recognizes the power of collaboration and partnerships, which aligns with SDG 17, and has formed alliances with local stakeholders, government agencies, and corporate partners to ensure that collective efforts are channeled towards achieving greater impact and driving systemic change. She actively participates in community-building efforts by organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences aimed at fostering dialogue, promoting awareness, and inspiring individuals to take action. Through these platforms, Sally has successfully cultivated a culture of empathy, compassion, and unity within the community. With a wealth of knowledge and expertise in nonprofit management, anti-racism, and community development, Sally is often sought after as a speaker, consultant, and thought leader. She has inspiring talks at national and international conferences, sharing insights on community development with both emerging and established non-profit organizations. Sally is also a two-time nominee for the Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Awards in BC. Prior to coming to Canada, Sally worked as a Regional Consultant and Program Coordinator for UN Women and as a Principal Partner to Sustainable Economic Development Organizations. She was also a youth representative for the Federation of Women Groups in Kenya in 2013, Chairperson for 2020 Ventures in 2017/2018, and was elected as Board Member for Drive Happiness in 2019. During her spare time, can be found enjoying nature, reading books, meditating, dancing, and cooking.
