Saket Saurabh is an accomplished Director of Photography hailing from diverse regions of India. With a career spanning over 10 years, he has garnered extensive experience in shooting narrative films, documentaries, commercials, and television shows worldwide. Saket honed his craft in Cinematography at the esteemed LV Prasad Film and Television Academy in Chennai, India from 2010 to 2012. While his professional journey began in commerce, his love for photography and theater naturally steered him toward the world of filmmaking.
Early in his career, Saket shot his first crowdfunded indie feature film titled "Naya Pata." The film, which addressed the serious issue of identity loss among migrant laborers, received critical acclaim and a successful release through the PVR director's rare cut. He then went on to shoot the second short film of his career, "The Lost Behrupiya," which won the 61st National Film Award for Best Arts/Cultural Film. The project aimed to make every frame resemble a painting, and it went on to earn the Best Indie Fest merit award in California in 2014. The film also received nominations for Best Documentary and Best Hair & Makeup at the Golden Egg film festival in Cancun that same year. Saket's film "Aadha Chand Tum Rakhlo" had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival short film corner in 2015 and received praise for its thought-provoking portrayal of religion. In 2016, he shot "Shiva's Redemption," a short film that delved into child psychology and garnered over 20 prizes and recognition on a global scale.
Throughout his journey, Saket had the opportunity to work as an assistant to renowned
cinematographers such as PC Sreeram ISC and Binod Pradhan ISC. These experiences allowed him to develop a unique skill set encompassing working with actors, leading large crews, technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of the industry.
Saket is inspired by the creative collaboration process. He firmly believes that every project, regardless of its scale, is distinctive and deserves a visual style that captivates and engrosses the audience. This approach has been successfully applied to numerous films, web series, commercials, and documentaries. With over 30 credits in Indian mainstream feature films as a Director of Photography, Associate Cinematographer, 1st AC, and Camera Operator, his work is distinguished by a realistic and quirky appearance, which has garnered widespread recognition. Critics and viewers alike appreciate his signature style, characterized by a grainy and naturalistic vibe. In recent years, Saket has worked on three independent feature films and web series, all currently in post-production. He believes that his role in a project begins early in the production process and extends until the movie is screened. He strives to be deeply involved in every step, as his expertise is crucial in bringing the vision to life and maximizing its impact on the audience. With over a decade of experience, Saket's passion for storytelling continues to grow. Besides work, he tries to take time off to travel and discover the world. He believes it's a phenomenal source of inspiration and a wonderful way to connect with people.
