Saikiran M D is a filmmaker and cinematographer from Wayanad, Kerala, currently based in Bangalore. He holds a Master’s degree in Film and Video Communication from the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad.
Saikiran’s work is rooted in quiet observation, exploring the relationship between people and place through both fiction and non-fiction. His directorial projects include Five Star (fiction), Folds (non-fiction), and A Brief Moment of Absence - a deeply personal travel documentary filmed during a 62-day solo cycling journey from Ahmedabad to Wayanad.
He has also worked as Director of Photography on short films like Farther Than Distance and Meta Pi. For Saikiran, filmmaking is both a storytelling medium and a way to understand himself and the world around him. His evolving visual language leans into stillness, subtle emotion, and lived experience.
