After fighting the fight of cancer for about 12 years I then retired.
I decided at the age of 80 to take up photography and to purchase a camera, (which became four and included multiple movie making items and pieces of equipment).
I had written some children's books and volunteered at local schools, reading them to children.
I wrote a short story and decided to make a short film from the short story. This story was "Delicate Shades Of Gray".
After reading several books, watching you tube videos and attending meetings at the Palm Springs Writers Guild, I found myself convincing friends to act in and help with the short film.
We spent each Wednesday morning for 2-3 hours recording the movie.
I spent more than a year learning the editing process, (realizing that there was more to camera work than point and shoot). Fixing it in post sounds good but I realized shooting it with more precision is better in the end.
I have the desire to complete another short film which I've written.
I was fortunate enough to meet an actress who will star in my next short film and through my association with her I have met a writer/directer living in Palm Springs who will assist on this second project.
My goal is not to become a great movie director in Hollywood, but to make some films people might enjoy watching.
I have written a 92 page script for a movie/series which has had very nice comments from other people who are in the business of TV and Movie work.
Someday perhaps someone with far more experience than I have, will find the script worthy of consideration.
I hope to have my short films accepted for viewing at several of the short film festivals.
For now, I am having a great time with this movie/short film activity.
