SPASM, founded in Montreal (Canada) in 2002, is a crazy short film festival mostly dedicated to genre films and anything out of the ordinary. Our 8 night event is held every year around Halloween and is one big party! We attract huge crowds who come to discover great short films from around the world and to have a good time in the unique SPASM atmosphere.
We are well known for a our big HORROR night at Halloween, but we present much more then that. We are also looking for short films in the following categories : SCIENCE-FICTION, FANTASY, ACTION, THRILLER, SUSPENSE, COMEDY, WESTERN, TRASH, WEIRD, STRANGE and films dealing with SEXUALITY.
Basically, we love films that create emotions ; that hit you like a ton of bricks, that can make you laugh or cry, that can inspire you or make you shit your pants!

Le Festival SPASM, fondé à Montréal en 2002, c’est LE rendez-vous des amateurs de courts métrages qui sortent de l’ordinaire! On trippe sur le cinéma de genre et tout ce qui peut surprendre, déranger ou faire crier de joie (ou de peur!).
Chaque année, autour de l’Halloween, on présente 7 à 10 soirées complètement folles. Nos événements attirent de grandes foules qui viennent pour découvrir des bons films dans l’ambiance unique et électrisante de SPASM!
Notre légendaire GRANDE SOIRÉE HORREUR à l’Halloween est un incontournable, mais SPASM, c’est bien plus que ça! On cherche aussi des courts métrages dans les catégories suivantes: SCIENCE-FICTION, FANTASTIQUE, TRASH, ACTION, THRILLER, SUSPENSE, COMÉDIE, WESTERN, WEIRD, ÉTRANGE et carrément INCLASSABLE. On cherche aussi des courts métrages qui explorent la SEXUALITÉ sous toutes ses formes.
En gros, on veut des films qui frappent fort!
All short films presented at SPASM are eligible for competition at SPASM. A jury gives out multiple awards at the end of the festival. Best film / best directing / best script / best editing / best sound / best cinematography / best music / best effects / best horror / best science-fiction / best comedy / best acting / best animation.
The public also vote for there favorite short film of the festival.

Un jury remet plusieurs prix à la fin du festival, dont : Meilleur film, Meilleure réalisation, Meilleur scénario, Meilleur montage, Meilleur son, Meilleure direction photo, Meilleure musique, Meilleurs effets, Meilleur film d’horreur, Meilleur film de science-fiction, Meilleure comédie, Meilleure interprétation et Meilleur film d’animation.
Le public aussi a son mot à dire et vote pour son court métrage coup de cœur du festival.
