I had an excellent time with this challenge. It allowed me to get together with my family and friends to create something. The 37 hours it took to accomplish were some of the happiest moments in my life. The 37 Hour time limit kept a fire under our a** the whole time to make quick executive decisions.
The festival itself was amazing! There are so many talented voices out there, and it was a pleasure to see what they could contribute to the View Askewniverse.
I, for one, am very much looking forward to the next challenge!

  • So honored to have been a part of the Smodcastle 37 hour film challenge with our animated short SMOKE BREAK. We had an absolute blast scrambling around trying to get our film created from start to finish in 37 hours. It was so fun getting to play with the characters from the Viewaskewniverse. We grew up on Kevin smith movies so to have our film play on the big screen at the Smodcastle is a badge of honor we will always carry with us! Thank you so much for the amazing opportunity.

  • Truly an incredible experience! What I thought would be a stressful weekend of making a movie in 37 hours turned into some of the most fun I've had creating. Then to top it off our film was selected as a finalist and we traveled to New Jersey to watch 37 films (in a row) at Smodcastle Cinemas. Everyone involved in the festival was so welcoming and encouraging. Seeing something I made with my friends up on the big screen in Kevin Smith's movie theater is something I'll never forget. The Smodcastle Cinema where the event took place is like a View-Askew museum with tons of posters and props from Kevin Smith's films. The theater itself is also very old school cool, as if you're going through a time machine. It's also right around the corner from the Quick Stop where Clerks was filmed and it looks exactly the same. It really felt like a once in a lifetime experience, although I'm hoping to do it again next year! Thank you Ernie and Stephen and everyone involved for putting this together!
