The festival is accepting works created after January 1, 2024, in the following categories.
-Technology Documentary Film
Documentary films, both feature-length and short, that tell stories about new technologies, innovations, and life-changing events are welcome in this category.
-Virtual Reality Film
All kinds of virtual and augmented reality films, installations, games, and productions are welcome within this category.
-Interactive Film
Interactive storytelling films, games, and installations are welcome within this category.
-Art&Technology Film
This category is open to films created by technology or showcasing the stories of art and artworks that were created by technology.
1. Submission formats
Films must be submitted via an online screener or on a physical hard drive (HDD). The tracking number, film title, film category, and running time must be clearly labeled on the physical forms HDD. Submitted copies will not be returned.
2. Submission Eligibility
All submitted films must be completed after January 1, 2024.
- SHAPESHIFT FESTIVAL requires a Bulgarian premiere for all feature films, documentaries, and VR content.
- There is no premiere policy for short films.
- Works-in-progress and films with distribution are accepted.
3. Submission Fee
Submission fees are based on the submission deadlines.
4. Submission and posting requirements

All shipping and postage costs for the submission package and, if the film is selected for the Festival. SHAPESHIFT FESTIVAL will not absorb any customs fees. All charges must be prepaid. SHAPESHIFT FESTIVAL will not accept submissions if the submitting party does not pay customs and delivery fees.
International submission packages must be labeled 'Trade Sample' on any customs label and, for customs purposes, must be given a value of no more than US$10.
5. Formats and print traffic requirements:
Selected films must provide a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) or an alternative suitable format, along with a backup Blu-ray disc. The film title must be clearly labeled on both the DCP and Blu-ray.
A selected DCP must be received at SHAPESHIFT FESTIVAL no later than three weeks before its scheduled screening date.
