The Society of Film & Visual Arts Film Festival is an intercollegiate student-run festival. It is hosted by the Society of Film & Visual Arts (SFVA) at St. John's University, Queens Campus, encouraging student films AND a new section, screenwriting!

The students who achieve first place in our four categories (narrative, experimental, documentary, and screenwriting) will receive a personalized trophy with their name and category and certificate. We will not be awarding cash prizes because this is a student-run festival based on St. John's University policies.

Rules
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE STUDENTS ENROLLED AT A UNIVERSITY/ COLLEGE. ONLY 1 SUBMISSION CAN BE ENTERNED INTO THE FESTIVAL. When submitting you must use your student email from your assigned university. All submissions must be original, and the sole property of the applicant. To submit a film, you must state what category your film is under and MUST BE within 16 minutes. However, we have an exception for 20-minute films for St. John's University students. On the day of the festival, we do not require at-door identification, but your University must be listed to uphold our "student-created" policy when submitting.

We expect theater etiquette for ALL attendees when watching films and consuming provided concessions. As St. John's University students, we want to uphold a cordial and safe environment for students to present their hard work.
