Salil Singh is an independent Indian film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor known for his socially relevant and emotionally driven storytelling. His journey into filmmaking began with short films such as Ab Teri Baari (2015), Fearless (2016), and 23 March (2017), projects that helped him develop his cinematic voice while introducing him to the world of film festivals. These early works received selections and screenings at various festivals across India, including events in Mumbai, Delhi, Bikaner, and Aligarh.
In 2016, Salil received an Appreciation Certificate from the Government of India for his contribution to spreading awareness about the Swachh Bharat Mission through his social-awareness film Swachhta Hi Jeevan.
With Juhi Aur Jamal (2020), Salil moved closer to the world of parallel and independent cinema. The film was officially screened at the 10th Dada Saheb Phalke International Film Festival, Kolkata Shorts International Film Festival, and several other platforms across India, earning awards and critical appreciation.
His most acclaimed work to date, Band Baja Aur Sitara (2025), marked a major milestone in his career. Directed and produced by Salil, the film received multiple awards and official selections at prestigious festivals including the Jagran Film Festival, Haryana, Darbhanga, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Siliguri & Nawada International Film Festival, among others and was showcased in leading multiplex chains such as PVR and Cinepolis, expanding its reach to a wider audience.
In 2016, Salil founded Dreams Slave Entertainment, an independent production house dedicated to developing original stories and supporting independent cinema.
His debut feature film, Kalpana Aur Yatharth (2026), which he directed, produced, and acted in, is set to begin its festival journey in June 2026.
He is also currently developing Chandu Chaiwala, a six-episode web series planned for release in early 2027.
Through his films, Salil Singh continues to explore human emotions, social realities, and culturally rooted narratives, establishing himself as a promising voice in contemporary independent Indian cinema.
