Ruxandra is an emerging Romanian animator with a background in both 2D and 3D animation. They have a passion for exploring unconventional and surreal spaces, often reflecting on the liminality between reality and imagination. They completed both their bachelor's and master's projects at the National University of Theatre and Film "I.L. Caragiale" (UNATC) in Bucharest.
Their short films are characterized by eerie atmospheres and strange internal worlds. Their BA project, Nu-mă-uita (2022), focused on memory loss and the fear of being forgotten, incorporating elements of choreography. The film blends 3D animation, motion capture, and rotoscoping techniques, and won several awards at international festivals. Their MA film, Gogotte (2024), explores the relationship between a creator and their creation in a mystical forest setting. The protagonist, a sculptor, becomes obsessed with completing a large sand sculpture, using the blood of nearby animals to enhance his work. The film metaphorically explores themes of ambition, creativity, and destruction.
