MISSION & OBJECTIVE:
The ROSWELL SCIENCE FICTION and FANTASY Film Fest is the only film making festival dedicated to bringing artist's visions of the universe to the UFO capital of the world. It provides a venue for independent SCI-FI/FANTASY filmmakers to get their films screened as well as network with some of the best independent short and feature-length genre filmmakers in the world.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:
On July 4th, 1947 the wreckage of an unidentified object was recovered in Roswell, NM. The mysterious nature of the object and the ensuing attempts by various government agencies to minimize the incident led many to believe the craft had incredible significance, from possibly being a top-secret military weapon to it even being a captured extraterrestrial ship.

Whatever the truth, the mystery surrounding the incident has captured the imaginations of generations and inspired legions of storytellers to find their own take on the incident. From films and TV shows to books, comic books, and collectibles of all kinds, the crash at Roswell remains one of the great sources of inspiration for imaginations of all kinds.

Roswell accepts finished films in the feature (running time over 60 minutes) and short (running time under 60 minutes) for entrance into its film competition. Films should be Sci-Fi, fantasy, thriller, or supernatural in nature. RISF accepts narrative, documentary, and animation in short or feature lengths.

We (Jewel Sky Productions) attended, also on behalf of our filmmaker partner Dirt Merchant Films. The 10th annual film festival was definitely worth the travel and time spent. We flew in and then had to drive from Albuquerque each day because every hotel was sold out way in advance. Reason was the 50th Roswell Galacticon was also happening on the same weekend. That all just added to the excitement. We had a wonderful time meeting new people and making friends. All the films screened were entertaining and such good work! We definitely look forward to attending again. We were very honored to win best short film for XENTASTIC! Many thanks to the entire crew that made this all happen! We appreciate you!

This is a small festival but don't underestimate it! Alan is a really great guy that's doing a lot for the city of Roswell, and that includes taking a lot of time and care with this festival. I drove out from Los Angeles to find out I had won Best Short, but I was surprised to find that the quality of films was better here than at a lot of larger festivals. I'm even tempted to head back next year for the 75th anniversary of the crash! #AliensExist

  • It was a great honor for us to have our project "True Believer" screened at the Roswell SF Fest, the world's UFO Mecca, and win the Best Documentary Award. It was also a pleasure to attend the festival and hear the sincere and accurate feedback from the festival director, Alan Trever.
Encouraged by this award, we are now ready to tackle the big mountain of our next film.
