I am an artist who uses film, media, performance, and sound as a way to express my artistic practices. As I child, I immediately became obsessed with the cinema and addicted to television. One year my parents gave me a cassette tape recorder to listen to music but all I wanted to do was sneak it into the local theaters to record and listen to my favorite movies repeatedly. This was years before the introduction of the video rental, and illegal. Luckily I was never caught. Repeated listenings led me to study and appreciate sounds of my recordings. By the time I was in high school, I expanded my interests to rock concerts and added still photography and super 8mm film to my arsenal. In art school, I had access to video camera equipment, but my interests shifted to paintings and sculpture. I wanted to see the greatest art the world had to offer and moved to New York to pursue that interest. Soon, I became an art installer freelancing to nearly every major museum and gallery there and worked with well known artists and dealers. I became recognized at being very good at what I did, but none of that experience inspired me to make my own art until I discovered Anthology Film Archives. I had no idea there were so many artists who expressed art through film. At the same time I discovered the artists of the noise scene. It was underground and mostly ignored by the art world and the music industry. This inspiring combination excited me. I now could express art the way I wanted. After spending an extended time in San Francisco raising my children with my wife, Paola, I returned to New York and developed a collage or fragment approach to film, video tape, and digital video paring them with experimental sounds. My first feature film is called Fragmentstein, which won many awards in 2021/2022. Since then I've have been making films and videos that have shown in New York, Brooklyn, Jersey City, and San Francisco as well as festivals all over the world.
