My name is Richard Bruce Stirling.
I am an award-winning, independent filmmaker living on the Central Coast of California.
I write, produce, direct, photograph, and edit narrative films in which the story is everything.
Stylewise, I direct as if I were a documentary filmmaker. I turn the camera on, frame the shot, and let the actors do the rest.
I love early black-and-white cinema, especially American and Italian noir, the spiritual mysticism of Tarkovsky and the genius of Kurosawa.
I work with local actors and crew, whose passion for filmmaking brings us to together to create films that are distinctly "central coast" yet universal in theme.
My short film BIG WHITE DOG won many prizes on the 2024-25 festival circuit.
My family-friendly script WHAT ABOUT HUGGY? won the 2021 Santa Barbara international Screenplay Festival, short script.
THE REAL SPAGHETTI (2023), won best comedy script YourFilmProduced (2023).
THE MONKS SISTERS (2025) is my latest short film.
