As a still photographer, Richard Slater was best known not only for his travel photography but also for his collaboration with the Royal Geographical Society, which led to his spending five years exploring London, photographing and filming interviews with Londoners all over the city. This work appeared in the six week People in London exhibition at the RGS and in Richard’s book, also called People in London. Together with cameraman, Bud Gallimore, and editor, Becky Gallimore, Richard began making films in 2017 and so far they have made four. The first was a thirty minute documentary called MAKING IT THROUGH Hitler’s War on Jews and that was followed by the music video The Refugee’s Song, the history of Sydney's harbour ferries called A Ferry Story and a documentary film based on poetry and still photos called This Strange Eventful History.
