Richard has made hundreds of short films on Science & Technology, Quality Assurance, and Healthcare Justice. His first short film submitted to film festivals and competitions, Gnomology, won an Award of Recognition for Children and Family Programming.
Richard’s childhood ambitions were to make cartoons and be a scientist; both dreams have come true; Richard makes films and is a Measurement Scientist.
Richard’s drawing and animation styles are influenced by:
-Don Martin of Mad Magazine for figure drawings.
-Clark Haas of Clutch Cargo cartoon for animation of still drawings and mouth movement.
-The Famous Adventures of Mr. Magoo for animation of historical and famous stories.
-Rudy Cataldi of Q.T. Hush for details in animated drawing.
-Hanna-Barbera cartoons for episodic kids cartoons with story arcs in the shorts and through several episodes.
-Disney films (Dumbo, Bambi, The Aristocats, The Jungle Book) for feature length stories with a wide range of emotions.
Richard draws mainly in black and white because of deuteranopia, a color vision deficiency between white and green light causing inability to distinguish most pastel shades of red, green, brown and pastel shades of blues, lavender, purple, violet.
Richard served in the U.S. Air Force.
