Renier de Bruyn is a Namibian / South African film maker. Born in Namibia to South African journalists; Estelle & Andre de Bruyn, during their coverage of the Namibian liberation struggle. Renier is probably best know for his work as director of photography on The White Line, Itandu, The Wind on your Skin, & Valara.
He began his career in 2007. Undertaking several apprenticeships under Paul van Schalkwyk, Madryn Cosburn, Heiko Bolt & Marinda Stein. Eventually becoming a television content producer at One Africa Television. Where he produced numerous television commercials, shows and documentaries. During this time, Renier had his directorial debut on a self funded short film; Gutter Culture. Which he co-produced, wrote, directed, filmed & edited.
In 2017 Renier joined his lifelong friends; Laurent Hesemans & Liberty Verbaan in their own venture; Endemic Productions. Starting off making primarily environmentally focused films. The trio broadened their filmography to include several commercial shorts, documentaries, short films, and a feature film.Laurent & Liberty emigrated in 2019. Leaving Renier to run Endemic Production. As he continues to do to this day.
