Rayell is a Mexican director and sound mixer. For 7 years, Rayell's work orbited the documentary world, exploring the hardships and struggles of immigration through numerous audiovisual projects. In recent years, Rayell has shifted his focus from documentary filmmaking to narrative filmmaking in order to change the constant negative and violent narrative of his native Ciudad Juarez. In 2022, Rayell received the Eka grant for the arts & culture of the state of Chihuahua to produce his first feature film, Lepes. In 2024, Rayell received the federal grant FOCINE by the Mexican Film Institute (Imcine) for the post-production of Lepes. The same year, Richard Linklater’s Austin Film Society awarded Rayell as a grantee for his film Lepes.In late 2022, short film “Entre Mudos y Estatuas” was selected winner by the jury of the Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival, in 2023 the film featured in the festival Shorts Mexico. In 2025, Fernando Eimbcke’s film “OLMO” premiered in Berlinale featuring Rayell’s work as sound mixer.
