RAPHAEL SBARGE (Director/Producer) has explored countless worlds in more than 40 years as an actor, and makes his Narrative Directorial Debut here with The Bird Who Could Fly. Born of an eccentric theatrical family, Sbarge’s mother was a Broadway costume designer, and his father a writer, artist, filmmaker and author. He began his career at age 4, when a new PBS show called Sesame Street was looking for kids. By 16 he appeared on Broadway opposite Faye Dunaway and by 18, just days after graduating high school, he flew to Chicago to co-star in Risky Business with Tom Cruise. Sbarge has since appeared in 30+ films, including Independence Day, Vision Quest and Pearl Harbor. He was a series regular on CBS’s The Guardian, played recurring roles on Dexter, Prison Break, 24 and Star Trek: Voyager. His 100+ television guest appearances include The Good Wife, Castle, CSI, Chicago Fire, Criminal Minds and Grey’s Anatomy. He is also well-known for work as a voice artist. Credits include the highly acclaimed series Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 (The New York Times’ Game of the Year) and Knights of the Old Republic. He recently served as the visual inspiration for a prominent character in the Steam Punk comic book series Lantern City from Boom Comics. He can currently be seen in lead roles on two hit programs, TNT’s Murder in the First, and ABC’s hit Once Upon a Time, in which he portrays Disney’s Jiminy Cricket.
