Rami Mornel grew up on a collective farm in the north of Israel and as a kid, he was known as exceptional basketball talent and led his high school team in scoring for three consecutive years. At age of 16, after a back injury, he had to stop playing basketball, and started writing instead. he had a regular column in his high school newspaper, and then at age of 18, he had a regular column in the weekly magazine "Hadaf Hayarok" that was all over Israel. in 2002, together with a friend, he founded an independent magazine called "the Iron Bell" which became very popular in the north of Israel.
