Born on 25th of September 1975 in Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England, United Kingdom (city and birth place of Novelist Charles Dickens {A Christmas Carol, Oliver Twist & Great Expectations} and Actor Peter Sellers {Pink Panther, Tom Thumb & Dr. Strangelove}), Rami Hilmi has a mixed family background and heritage of both British (from his mother side) and Iraqi (father’s side) roots.
After the war spread in the Middle East and Iraq, Rami and his family flee the country. Once back to the UK in 1994, Rami continued College but this time some interesting subjects caught his attention: Film Studies and Drama. Drama class proved to be what made Rami truly shine, progressing fast in his learning and evolving into a talented young performer. Rami took on all various theatre shows and projects, quickly completing additional study in Performing Arts and Theatre while eagerly starting to take on leading roles in the productions. At the same time, he experimented and tested his skills in writing and directing theatre shows between his studies, moving to a much more challenging field of screenplay writing later in his formation years.
Rami’s first audition was for the movie called “The Killing Game”, where he auditioned for a major role. A week passed by and Rami did not expect to hear from the production but one day, he received a call from the producer Humberto Michelacci (who after that became a good friend) congratulating for his winning audition for the leading role of ‘Simon’ in the film. Rami was over the moon and after that he felt his hard work had paid off and had more courage to go for and attend other auditions. The next audition came soon after for the martial arts feature film: “Men in White”, where he led the main role playing Steve Arios. This role allowed him to the audition for a WWII feature film “See It Through”, which again led him to take the main role playing Corporal Eddie O’Keefe, working with the same people who worked in “Saving Private Ryan” and “Band of Brothers”.
Rami attended the audition for the film: Extraordinary Rendition, seen by the director Jim Threapleton and landing the role of Guard Khalid, working alongside with Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings, Stars Wars – The Last Jedi & King Kong) & Omar Berdouni (United 93, The Kingdom & Green Zone).
Rami kept perfecting his skills and gaining further advanced experience casting for voice over and Added Dialogue Recordings (ADR). This led him to further advance his film career obtaining and landing some roles in major budget productions, such as “Prince of Persia – The Sands of Time” and “Days of the Falcon”, working closely with the Director Jean-Jacques Annaud (Seven Year in Tibet & Enemy at the Gates), and latest film project for Disney "Aladdin". He also landed the role of Syrian attendant in the thriller directed by Ridley Scott “Body of Lies”, filming a scene with Leonardo DiCaprio. At the pick of his busy career, Rami was approached by the director Luke (*) to work in the winning Mockumentary short script W.O.M.A.D. (Women or Men Against Dancing). The short film became part of W.O.M.A.D. (World of Music & Dance) Festival (created and hosted by Peter Gabriel (Geneses)) for the 25th Anniversary DVD special of the festival. In this short film, Rami played the leading Role of Dr. John Kitkater, working with a number of outstanding actors, amongst them Norberto Morán (Pirates of the Caribbean – On Stranger Tides & 6 Bullets to Hell). The two became good friend and Norberto decided to cast Rami to star in 3 films of his own production (I Need Money, The Overground & Clinical Trial).
