Ram Rajagopalan is an award-winning filmmaker based between Toronto, Vancouver, and Pune, whose films have screened at Oscar®-qualifying and Canadian Screen Award–qualifying festivals worldwide. After a successful career in tech and finance, he turned to filmmaking to pursue stories drawn from real life—stories that move between horror, comedy, drama, and thriller while always staying grounded in human truth.
His directorial debut Mannequin (horror) won Best Horror Short at ConCarolinas and earned him the Best Emerging Director Award at the Bleeding Tree International Film Festival, establishing his reputation as a bold new voice. His comedic short Squat N Stool tackled digestive health taboos with sharp wit and warmth, while as a producer he has championed powerful narratives such as Alia (drama) and Spiral (thriller).
Central to Ram’s process is team building—he prides himself on creating collaborative, trust-driven sets where diverse talents thrive. His films reflect this ethos: intimate yet expansive, unafraid of weaving laughter into darkness or tenderness into suspense.
With projects that blur the line between the ordinary and extraordinary, Ram continues to develop work that entertains, provokes, and lingers long after the credits roll.
