Ramaskrik Film Festival is a horror film festival over five days. The festival takes place at Oppdal Kulturhus, at four great movie screens with a total capacity of 650. In addition to film screenings, we have several film introductions by Norwegian and international guests, work-in-progress presentations and short films, and a lot of social events and venues for networking. We are proud to have a very loyal and dedicated audience from all over the country. 2026 is our 16th edition of Ramaskrik. It will take place 14 - 18. October 2026.
Oppdal is one of the largest municipalitys of Mid-Norway, located in the mountains between the two great mountain regions Dovrefjell and Trollheimen. More than 55% of the area is national park or protected landscape. The place has a population figure of 7000 people. Oppdal has the largest sheep ranges in the country with approximately 45,000 sheep in the mountains each summer.
You might know the region better as the location for the Norwegian horror film Troll Hunter. Oppdal is just north of where the trolls live
Ramaskrik filmfestival screens about 40 feature and 20 short films and our goal is to present new films from all over the world. A nice combination of films with cinema realease and hidden gems that you must attend to be able to watch.
Since 2024, Ramaskrik Film Festival is a competetive member of the MÉLIÈS INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS FEDERATION (http://www.melies.org) and will award the Méliès d'argent to the best European short film at the festival. This film will then in turn compete for the Méliés d'or.
