The satirist Serdar Somuncu shares a unique look into his soul and behind the scenes of his live show in front of 5,000 spectators in Düsseldorf.
Serdar Somuncu was born in Istanbul in 1968 and is a German satirist, author, director and musician. Occasionally he also works as an actor and voice actor. Somuncu studied music, acting, and directing. He reached fame after 1996 when he did a scenic reading of selected passages of Hitler‘s Mein Kampf. With 250,000 spectators and 1,428 performances, his year-long tour under the title Estate of a Mass Murderer was a huge success with the public. In the following years, the polarizing satirist toured sold-out venues as a bossy missionary and angry citizen, preaching his Hassismus to around 200,000 spectators in over 300 appearances, fascinating with his explosive mixture of media scolding and social criticism, before saying goodbye to his followers in 2016. To date, Serdar Somuncu has published numerous DVDs, books, music albums and has directed more than 100 plays, most recently George Tabori‘s Mein Kampf. He is a regular guest on TV shows such as Hart aber fair, Anne Will and as a commentator in news magazines such as heutejournal. In 2020 he celebrates 33 years on stage with his new program GröHaZ - The Greatest Hassias of All Time.
