R. J. DANIEL HANNA is a winner of The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences 2021 Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting, and recently directed the true-story cross-country-cycling dramedy “Hard Miles,” starring Golden Globe-winner Matthew Modine and Oscar-Nominee Sean Astin. Completed March 1st, it is currently receiving competitive bids for theatrical distribution. Prior to that, he directed the true-story feature “Miss Virginia,” starring three-time Emmy-winner Uzo Aduba, Oscar-Nom Aunjanue Ellis, Vanessa Williams, and Matthew Modine. The film, distributed by Vertical Entertainment, was listed as a New York Times and USA Today Must-See Fall Movie, won the Audience Award at The Naples Film Festival, and received a limited theatrical release, cable premiere on BET, and streaming deal with Netflix. He’s also an editor, and brings that invaluable creative and cost-cutting knowledge of post to his sets. Highlights from the dozen features he’s edited include horror film “What Lies Below,” which quickly became #1 on Netflix, and the upcoming disaster-movie “Supercell” starring Alec Baldwin, Anne Heche, and Skeet Ulrich.
