Purple Train Arts was created in 2013 by Colombian queer artist Ita Torres (Tai Aroa), given the need to create for herself and her peers, a process that would encourage the exploration of experimental arts with a social, holistic approach, addressing issues considered controversial such as the human rights of queer and lgbtiq people, the conscious consumption of psychoactive substances, anti-patriarchal narratives, mental health care, and other countercultural proposals of transformative construction.
In 2021 entered Eledén Pelaéz, a social worker and trandisciplinary artist who focuses on art with recyclable, non-conventional materials and literary creation.
In 2023 Felipe Roa, a multi-instrumentalist musician who focuses on music and diverse art languages for the creation of affective spaces and non-hegemonic exploration, joined the group in 2023.
We resist through art, and we claim creativity as a source of pleasure and joy, also as a tool for the transformation of the dynamics of oppression.
