(PORTUGUESE AND ENGLISH, BELOW) Este encuentro internacional, ya un clásico instalado en Punta del Este, tiene algunas peculiaridades que lo distinguen de otros Festivales de Cine Judío del mundo, por el hecho de realizarse en un balneario tan especial como lo es Punta del Este, un punto de encuentro donde colectividades de distintos países se dan cita anualmente en Uruguay.

El Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival (Festival Internacional de Cine Judío de Uruguay, FICJU®) nació en el año 2003, con el fin de generar un espacio cultural, educativo, didáctico e ilustrativo, orientado a promover el conocimiento de la historia del pueblo judío y sus diversas culturas y tradiciones, buscando así afianzar nuestra identidad e integración a través del arte.

Se exhiben películas de ficción y documentales con diferentes perspectivas de la temática judía, se organizan espacios para el análisis y la reflexión de la historia, costumbres y culturas de nuestro pueblo alrededor del mundo, y se mantiene de forma constante la memoria de la Shoa (Holocausto).

Descubrimos nuevos aspectos de nuestra herencia e identidad, así como también aprendemos condiciones coyunturales de las distintas comunidades judías del mundo, fomentando la integración de todo el pueblo judío a través del conocimiento de nuestra esencia compartida.

Gracias a lo señalado, el Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival se convierte en foco de atracción turística, con un promedio de 2.500 asistentes al mismo.

(PORTUGUESE) Este encontro internacional, já clássico em Punta del Este, tem algumas peculiaridades que o distinguem de outros festivais de cinema judeu no mundo, devido ao fato de realizar-se em um balneário tão especial como Punta del Este, um ponto de encontro onde comunidades de diferentes países se reúnem anualmente no Uruguai.

O Festival Internacional de Cinema Judaico de Punta del Este (FICJU®) nasceu em 2003, com o objetivo de gerar um espaço cultural, educativo, didático e ilustrativo, orientado para promover o conhecimento da história do povo judeu e suas diversas culturas e tradições, buscando assim fortalecer nossa identidade e integração através da arte.

São exibidos filmes de ficção e documentários com diferentes perspectivas do tema judeu, são organizados espaços para a análise e reflexão da história, costumes e culturas de nosso povo ao redor do mundo, e a memória do Shoa (Holocausto) é constantemente mantida.

Descobrimos novos aspectos de nossa herança e identidade, bem como aprendemos sobre as condições atuais das diferentes comunidades judaicas ao redor do mundo, promovendo a integração de todo o povo judeu através do conhecimento de nossa essência compartilhada.

Graças ao exposto acima, o Festival de Cinema Judaico de Punta del Este torna-se um foco de atração turística, com uma média de 2.500 participantes.

(ENGLISH) This international meeting, already a classic in Punta del Este, has some peculiarities that distinguish it from other Jewish Film Festivals in the world, due to the fact that it takes place in such a special seaside resort as Punta del Este, a meeting point where communities from different countries gather annually in Uruguay.

The Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival (Festival Internacional de Cine Judío de Uruguay, FICJU®) was born in 2003, with the purpose of generating a cultural, educational, didactic and illustrative space, oriented to promote the knowledge of the history of the Jewish people and its diverse cultures and traditions, thus seeking to strengthen our identity and integration through art.

Fiction films and documentaries with different perspectives of the Jewish theme are shown, spaces are organized for the analysis and reflection of the history, customs and cultures of our people around the world, and the memory of the Shoa (Holocaust) is constantly maintained.

We discover new aspects of our heritage and identity, as well as learn about the current conditions of the different Jewish communities around the world, fostering the integration of all Jewish people through the knowledge of our shared essence.

Thanks to the above, the Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival becomes a focus of tourist attraction, with an average of 2,500 attendees.

Rules & Terms

(PORTUGUESE AND ENGLISH, BELOW) 1.- El Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival convoca al Concurso de Cortos y Largometrajes con diferentes perspectivas de la temática judía.

2.- Deberán haber sido realizados a partir del 1 de enero de 2021 y en las siguientes categorías: ficción, documental y animación. La duración máxima aceptada por trabajo será de 40 minutos para cortos y 120 para largos.

3.- Las realizaciones podrán haber sido producidas en cualquier formato fílmico o digital, pero deberán presentarse para su exhibición en los siguientes formatos: Archivo H264-estereo-1920x1080 o similar (MOV, MKV, MP4, AVI).

4.- En el caso de trabajos que no sean originalmente en idioma español, deberá venir con subtítulos incrustados en español, o acompañados de archivo SRT con códigos de tiempo y subtítulos en español (o en inglés para poder traducirlos al español) REQUISITO EXCLUYENTE.

5.- El plazo límite para la recepción de los materiales es el 4 de enero de 2024.

6.- Un jurado internacional discernirá los premios en las diferentes categorías, y su fallo será inapelable.

7.- El festival procurará brindar facilidades para la presencia de los realizadores de los cortos y largos seleccionados durante el festival, pero la aceptación del trabajo no implica otorgar invitación con pasaje y alojamiento, el que deberá correr por cuenta del participante.

8.- La inscripción del film en el festival implica la aceptación tácita de las presentes bases. Cualquier imprevisto no establecido en estas Bases y Reglamentos, o que surja durante el Festival, será interpretado y resuelto única y exclusivamente por el Comité Organizador, y no dará lugar a ningún tipo de reclamo posterior. EL FESTIVAL NO PAGA FEES DE EXHIBICIÓN. Es un evento de carácter netamente cultural y cuenta con ayuda de varios voluntarios.

(PORTUGUÊS) 1.- Festival de Cinema Judaico de Punta del Este prevê inscrições para curtas e longas-metragens com diferentes perspectivas sobre o tema judeu.

2.- Devem ter sido feitas em ou após 1º de janeiro de 2021 e nas seguintes categorias: ficção, documentário e animação. A duração máxima aceita por trabalho será de 40 minutos para curtas-metragens e 120 minutos para longas-metragens.

3.- Os filmes podem ter sido produzidos em qualquer filme ou formato digital, mas devem ser apresentados para exibição nos seguintes formatos: Arquivo H264-stereo-1920x1080 ou similar (MOV, MKV, MP4, AVI).

4.- No caso de obras que não estejam originalmente em espanhol, elas devem vir com legendas embutidas em espanhol, ou acompanhadas de um arquivo SRT com códigos de tempo e legendas em espanhol (ou em inglês para traduzi-las para o espanhol) CONDIÇÃO ESSENCIAL.

5.- O prazo para o recebimento de materiais é segunda-feira, 4 de janeiro de 2024.

6.- Um júri internacional discernirá os prêmios nas diferentes categorias, e sua decisão será final.

7.- O festival tentará proporcionar facilidades para a presença dos diretores dos curtas e longas selecionados durante o festival, mas a aceitação do trabalho não implica na concessão de um convite com tarifa aérea e hospedagem, que deve ser pago pelo participante.

8.- A inscrição do filme no festival implica a aceitação tácita destas regras. Qualquer evento imprevisto não estabelecido neste Regulamento, ou que surja durante o Festival, será interpretado e resolvido única e exclusivamente pelo Comitê Organizador, e não dará lugar a qualquer reivindicação subseqüente. O FESTIVAL NÃO PAGA TAXAS DE EXIBIÇÃO. É um evento puramente cultural, com a ajuda de vários voluntários.

(ENGLISH) 1.- The Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival calls for entries for Short and Feature Films with different perspectives on the Jewish theme.

2.- They must have been made on or after January 1st, 2021 and in the following categories: fiction, documentary and animation. The maximum length accepted per work will be 40 minutes for short films and 120 minutes for feature films.

3.- The films may have been produced in any film or digital format, but must be submitted for exhibition in the following formats: H264-stereo-1920x1080 file or similar (MOV, MKV, MP4, AVI).

4.- In the case of films that are not originally in Spanish language, they must come with embedded subtitles in Spanish, or accompanied by SRT file with time codes and subtitles in Spanish (or in English in order to translate them into Spanish) EXCLUDING REQUIREMENT.

5.- The deadline for receipt of materials is Monday, January 4th, 2024.

6.- An international jury will discern the awards in the different categories, and its decision will be final.

7.- The festival will try to provide facilities for the presence of the filmmakers of the selected short and feature films during the festival, but the acceptance of the work does not imply the granting of an invitation with airfare and lodging, which must be paid by the participant.

8.- The inscription of the film in the festival implies the tacit acceptance of these rules. Any unforeseen event not established in these Rules and Regulations, or arising during the Festival, will be interpreted and resolved solely and exclusively by the Organizing Committee, and will not give rise to any subsequent claim. THE FESTIVAL DOES NOT PAY EXHIBITION FEES. It is a purely cultural event and counts with the help of several volunteers.
