Pulak Kumar Das, an independent filmmaker from Guwahati, Assam, India, is a storyteller with a passion for reflecting life through cinema. He completed his schooling at Railway Higher Secondary School in Maligaon, Guwahati, and pursued higher studies at K.K. Handique State Open University. In 2018, he honed his skills in direction and acting at Assam Music and Film Institute, Guwahati. He later enhanced his expertise by graduating in filmmaking from Isha Film and Television Institute, Mumbai, in 2021.
Pulak has actively contributed as an artist to over 15 films between 2017 and 2022. Among his most notable works are Ovuvob, Bahal, and RED—projects that he wrote, directed, and produced. These films have not only received acclaim but also earned him several prestigious awards, including the esteemed Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award. September 2021 marked a significant milestone as he embarked on his journey into Bollywood.
Drawing inspiration from his everyday experiences, Pulak crafts compelling characters and unique storylines that resonate with audiences. His role model, renowned filmmaker Jahnu Barua, also from Guwahati, serves as a guiding light for his artistic vision. With a deep desire to address societal issues through cinema, Pulak aims to deliver meaningful messages that connect with viewers on a profound level.
