I tell stories for those who can’t find the words. Through film, I aim to shine a light on hidden struggles, challenge silence, and remind us of our shared humanity.
Prayer Elishama Tafara, born on August 6, 2002, in Masvingo, Zimbabwe, is a visionary filmmaker and the Director of Royal Lens Entertainment. With a Higher National Diploma in Film & TV Production and a Diploma in Registered Visual & Performing Arts Multimedia, Prayer has built a strong foundation in cinematography, film editing, color grading, and film production. His creative voice is rooted in his passion for African storytelling, music video production, and photography, but his true focus lies in using his art to address critical social issues, particularly mental health.
Navigating a community rich in diversity, Prayer has developed a deep understanding of how uniquely people experience life's challenges. He reflects on the troubling reality that many suffer in silence, their struggles hidden beneath the surface, often compounded by the stigma surrounding mental health. Society tends to gloss over these issues, leaving individuals feeling isolated, misunderstood, and overwhelmed, as though they are fighting a war without knowing the enemy. For many, that enemy is silence, misinformation, or the fear of seeking help.
Through his films, Prayer seeks to break this silence and challenge the stigma. He believes in the power of storytelling to connect us all, to give voice to those silent battles, and to spark real change. His work isn’t just about capturing life’s emotions and victories—it’s about exposing the truths we often ignore and creating space for dialogue around mental health. He encourages people to acknowledge that it’s okay to not have all the answers and to recognize that no one has to suffer in isolation.
Prayer’s notable works include Mental Warfare (2023), a powerful exploration of the mental health crisis that was selected at three international film festival and Silent Screams (2025), a raw psychological thriller that delves deep into the hidden struggles people face every day. His films not only entertain but also educate, helping to dismantle the myths around mental health and inspire communities to embrace compassion and understanding.
