Born in a small town of Madhya Pradesh, Jaora in 1988, Prateek hails from the central part of India where he spent most of his initial formative years. During his graduation days in Electronics and communication engineering, he discovered his love for cinema in a workshop on Documentary filmmaking. After graduation he was accepted in India’s most prestigious film school, Film and Television Institute of India, Pune to study Cinematography. His diploma film Catdog(2020) won 1st prize Cinefondation at Cannes film festival and best cinematography at TISFF, Tel Aviv. After graduation he assisted on several feature films like Milestone (2020) which premiered at 25th Busan International Film Festival and RK/Rkay (2021) premiered at Shanghai International Film Festival. Prateek then moved to independent cinema and has shot many narratives as well as documentaries. Currently he is working on his documentary titled Jarjar Ghar(Dilapidated House) which is currently in post-production. Recently he was selected as a fellow for the Asian Film Academy by the Busan Film Festival and Chanel under the mentorship of Renowned film maker Rithy Panh.
