International Festival of Social Environmental Cinema

The eighth edition of the International Festival of Social Environmental Cinema PLANET.Doc 2022 will be held from October 24 to December 31 2022, in a remote way, through online platforms directed for the brazilian audience. The event includes a showcase of International, Brazilian, and Catarinenses documentaries, animations and virtual reality films with social environmental and scientific themes. In addition, the Festival carry out the fifth international conference - PLANET.Doc Conference - that takes place on October 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28, gathering thinkers, scientists and journalists from all over the world in a major event about sustainability in our Planet.
The event anticipate a coexistence of the areas of cinema, science and society, being expected the exhibitions of films and the realization of conferences for universities and schools from all over Brazil, asides from the representants of non-governmental organizations and from society in general.

The festival will receive documentaries, animations and virtual reality subscriptions until August 31, 2022, in the following categories:
- SOCIAL ENVIRONMENTAL DOCUMENTARY
- NATURE DOCUMENTARY
- ANIMATION
- SCIENTIFIC DOCUMENTARY

The project as a whole, brings a significant showcase of the best cinematographic production about our Planet, bringing together science, technology, nature and society through free exhibitions of some of most groundbreaking films from the modern time, in universities, schools and cultural centers, all of that, online. 1 FESTIVAL GOALS
The festival establishes a window in Brazil for exhibition and awarding documentaries, animations and virtual reality films that reveals knowledge about the Planet Earth as a living system and promotes reflection on the contemporary society. The goal is to spread themes related to preserving wild and human life, and the environment, through films that focus on the challenges of sustainability and present solutions that could be created to enable a harmonious living between society and their natural environment. The festival challenges us to reflect about our current society in a transdisciplinary way to draw lines of reconnection and affirmation on the importance of the human beings on our planet's fate.
The importance of an integrated reflexion about the potential of technology, science and innovation aiming sustainability, is an urgent topic of discussion in public spaces, universities and schools. It's not possible anymore to develop two parallel sets of action, one for answer social necessities - "saving humanity" - and other to answer ecological damage - "saving the planet". The actual goal it's to combine these two demands in the perspective of action known as social-environmental. The perception of the existence of a limit in our planet, degradation and the ecological risks, such as the dramatic human consequences of these degradation makes us, as of now, to rethink our relation with society and nature, and to consider the damage that have been ignored for too long.

2 EXHIBITIONS
All the festival activities are free and available to all audiences virtually. The exhibitions and shows will occur on the festival's streaming platform, hosted at: https://planetdoc.org/ between October 24st, 2022 and December 31st, 2021.

3 SHOWS
The PLANET.doc Festival consists of competitive and noncompetitive shows.

3.1 COMPETITIVES
3.1.1 Planet.doc Nacional (Brazilian Films):
Composed by documentaries, animation and virtual reality films that are linked to social environmental issues and scientific themes. The national exhibition is made up of brazilian films. For the purpose of this regulation, a brazilians films are those that have a Brazilian Product Certificate, registered with the National Cinema Agency (Ancine), or, those that are international co-productions of which the majoritary production company is brazilian.

3.1.2 Planeta.doc Internacional:
Documentaries films, animations and virtual reality produced internationally linked to social environmental issues and scientific themes.

3.1.3 Planet.doc Santa Catarina
Composed by documentaries, fiction or animation that are linked to social and environmental issues. The Santa Catarina exhibition is made up of films produced in the state of Santa Catarina, in the south of Brazil. For the purpose of the regulation, any film produced in the state is considered to be a film from Santa Catarina.

3.2 NON-COMPETITIVE
The Festival has the liberty to annually create non-competitive exhibitions to present films and themes of interest to the festival. Those that are not related to the awards, will be disclosed at the same time as the opening of the exhibitions.

4 THEMES OF INTEREST
We all know that instituted practices in the industrialization process are not respecting the limits of Earth's regeneration. We are producing climate changes on a global level, with rising temperatures, rains and droughts all over our planet. We've created zones of environmental sacrifice, where we destine all humankind residues, with major impacts for the marginalized populations that inhabit these unhealthy places, and for the species of animals and plants that are extinct in the process. We sacrifice forests, air, water and animals in an irrational need-satisfaction system, that overwhelms our substrates of life. We forget that the terrestrial (deserts, forests and grasslands), aquatic (rivers, seas, mangroves and swamps) and social ecosystem, are part of a macro system that feeds back, and it is deeply connected and interdependent.
In this context, the International Festival of Social Environmental Cinema, PLANET.doc proposes a series of integrated interventions for reflections/actions that connects young people around new opportunities for change and develop more sustainable and inclusive societies, through the use of cinematographic art. Our mission as a socio-environmental film festival it's to show through films the practices that are being generated internationally to promote sustainability, with a highlight in innovations that have a positive impact on the preservation and improvement of the planet's quality of living. We want to give visibility to scientific knowledge, but also the ancestral, emphasizing the functioning of the planet Earth as a living system to which we irretrievably belong. The ultimate goal is to promote a wide reflection on our contemporary society, and enable the dissemination of development paradigms that are already being tested at the community level and the blossoming of new cultural matrices.

4.1 SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Energy – Problems and Solutions; Urban Mobility – Problems and Solutions; Sustainable Buildings – Problems and Solutions; Sustainable Cities – A new urbanity; Food production; Garbage and Recycling; Biodesign; Biotechnology and Nanotechnology; Genetic engineering; Sustainable Process and Products, etc.

4.2 NATURE
Water; Air quality, Climate and weather; Oceans; Forests; Ecosystems and Habitats; Biodiversity; Geology; Microscopic world; Expeditions, etc.

4.3 SOCIETY AND GOVERNANCE
Reports or complaints, social movements and environmental organizations; Interventions: Public policies, Social and Environmental organizations; Traditional Peoples and Ancestral Knowledges; Anthropology in the Contemporary World, Issues and Government Irregularities, Experiences resulting from the COVID-19 Pandemic, Human behavior and Social issues, etc.

5 REGISTRATION
The subscriptions for the competitive exhibition are free, and must be made online: https://filmfreeway.com/festival/PlanetaDoc between July 22, 2022 and August 31, 2022.
It will be accepted short movies (ut to 25 min), medium movies (from 26 min to 59 min), features (from 60 min to 180 min) and virtual reallity films with social environmental themes, made up to eight (8) years before this edition of the Festival. There is no subscription limit for the same director. All projects in a foreign language must contain subtitles in Spanish or Portugueses.

6 SELECTION
The selection of the audiovisual works for exhibition in the PLANET.doc Festival, are an exclusive responsibility of the curators team and director of the festival. To participate in the selection, it is mandatory to fill in the registration form and have the film completed before the selection announcement.
The list of audiovisual works selected will be released on Setember 27, 2022 on the festival's website: www.planetadoc.com and in all of their social medias.

7 COMMITMENTS OF THE SELECTED
Those responsible for the selected works must sent to the festival organization a downloadable link to the e-mail: planetadoc.international@gmail.com (foreign films) or planetadoc.brasil@gmail.com (brazilian films) or any other form of contact indicated by the production. Only the following formats will be accepted: Quicktime movie H.264 or mp4 H.264. All audiovisual material submitted must contain subtitles in Spanish or Portuguese.
The filmmaker must complete and sign a Declaration stating that there is no need for copyright charges by ECAD, as stated in the Law 9.610/98. This declaration must also be signed by the author of the Soundtrack.

7.1 Planet at School
The selected participants accept participate in the dissemination and use of their films on the Planet at School online platform hosted on the link: https://planetanaescola.com/, unless expressly restricted by the person in charge.

8 AWARDS
The films selected for the Competitive Showcase will compete for the Planet.Doc Trophy in the following categories:
I. Planet.Doc Internacional: up to ten (10) awarded films
II. Planet.Doc Nacional:up to ten (10) awarded films
III. Planet.Doc Santa Catarina: up to five (5) awarded films

The festival will reveal the existence of monetary prizes, when applicable, on the festival website and social medias.
The selection of the winners will be made by a panel of judges composed of experts in cinematographic art, academics, researchers and experts (brazilian and foreigns), invited by the Festival`s directors, who will watch the selected films to decide the winners by category.
The award ceremony and disclosure of the winners will be held until December 31, 2022.

9 FINAL PROVISIONS
The participation in the Festival Planet.Doc, implies acceptance and compliance with all terms and conditions established in theses Regulation. The exhibition copies must attend all the technical specifications specified by the Festival in this document. The Festival reserves all rights to cancel the participation of any film selected which does not present screening copies within the established technical standard or disobeying any item included in these Regulation. The Festival reserves the right to exhibit, free of charges, in cinemas and television, an extract of up to three (3) minutes of the selected work, for the purpose of promoting the Festival.

Festival Internacional de Cinema Socioambiental - Oitava Edição

A oitava edição do Festival Internacional de Cinema Socioambiental PLANETA.Doc 2022 acontece de 24 de outubro a 31 de dezembro de 2022, de forma remota pelas plataformas virtuais relacionadas para o público brasileiro. O evento conta com mostras internacionais, nacionais e catarinenses de documentários, animações e filmes em realidade virtual, com temáticas de caráter socioambiental e/ou científico. O Festival também realiza a quinta edição de sua conferência internacional - o Planetadoc Conferência - nos dias 24 a 28 de outubro, reunindo pensadores, jornalistas e cientistas de todo o mundo em um grande evento sobre a sustentabilidade no nosso Planeta.
O evento prevê a confluência das áreas de cinema, ciência e sociedade, sendo previstos a exibição dos filmes e a realização de conferências para universidades e escolas de todo o Brasil, além de representantes de organizações não governamentais e da sociedade em geral.

O festival receberá até o dia 31 de agosto de 2022 as inscrições de filmes documentários, de animação e em realidade virtual, nas seguintes categorias:
- DOCUMENTÁRIO SOCIOAMBIENTAL
- DOCUMENTÁRIO DE NATUREZA
- ANIMAÇÃO
- DOCUMENTÁRIO CIENTÍFICO

O projeto como um todo traz uma mostra significativa da melhor produção cinematográfica sobre o nosso Planeta, unindo a temática de ciência, tecnologia, natureza e sociedade por meio da exibição gratuita de alguns dos filmes mais impactantes da atualidade em universidades, escolas e centros culturais, remotamente. 1 OBJETIVOS DO FESTIVAL
O Festival estabelece no Brasil uma janela para exibição e premiação de documentários, animações e filmes em realidade virtual que revelem o avanço do conhecimento sobre o funcionamento da Terra como sistema vivo e promovam a reflexão sobre a sociedade contemporânea. Visa difundir temáticas relacionadas à preservação da vida por meio de filmes que enfoquem os desafios da sustentabilidade e apresentem as soluções que estão sendo geradas para viabilizar sociedades harmonicamente integradas ao seu meio natural. Lança o desafio de pensar a sociedade atual de forma transdisciplinar para traçar linhas de reconexão que evidenciem a importância do papel do ser humano na condução do destino do planeta.
A importância de uma reflexão integrada sobre o potencial da tecnologia, da ciência e da inovação para a sustentabilidade é hoje urgente em espaços públicos, universidades e escolas. Não é mais possível desenvolver dois conjuntos paralelos de medidas, um para responder às necessidades sociais – “salvar a humanidade” - e outro para responder aos danos ecológicos – “salvar o planeta”. O objetivo atual é combinar estas duas exigências solidárias na perspectiva de ação conhecida como socioambiental. A percepção da existência de limites do planeta, da degradação e dos riscos ecológicos, bem como das consequências humanas dramáticas destas degradações nos força, desde já, a repensar as relações entre sociedade-natureza e a considerar danos ignorados por muito tempo.

2 ESPAÇO DE EXIBIÇÃO
As atividades do festival são gratuitas e disponíveis para o público virtualmente. As mostras serão disponibilizadas na plataforma de streaming do festival, hospedada no endereço eletrônico https://planetdoc.org/ entre os dias 24 de outubro a 31 de dezembro de 2022

3 MOSTRAS
O PLANETA.doc é composto por mostras competitivas e não competitivas.

3.1 COMPETITIVAS

3.1.1 Planeta.doc Nacional:
Composta por documentários, animação e filmes em realidade virtual que tenham vinculação com questões socioambientais e científicas. A mostra nacional é composta por filmes brasileiros. Para fins deste regulamento, considera-se filme brasileiro todo aquele em que a empresa produtora majoritária seja brasileira.

3.1.2 Planeta.doc Internacional
Filmes documentários, de animação e em realidade virtual produzidos internacionalmente, com temáticas socioambientais e científicas.

3.1.3 Planeta.doc Santa Catarina
Composta por documentários, ficção ou animação que tenham vinculação com questões socioambientais e científicas. A mostra catarinense é composta por filmes realizados por produtoras sediadas no estado de Santa Catarina.

3.2 NÃO COMPETITIVAS
O Festival promove mostras não competitivas para apresentar filmes e temáticas de interesse do festival. Por não serem relacionadas à premiação, estas são usualmente divulgadas na abertura das exibições.

4 TEMAS DE INTERESSE
Sabemos que as práticas instituídas no processo de industrialização não vem respeitando os limites de regeneração da Terra. Estamos produzindo mudanças climáticas em nível global, com o aumento de temperaturas, chuvas e secas em várias partes do nosso planeta. Criamos zonas de sacrifício ambiental para as quais se destinam todos os rejeitos da humanidade, com graves impactos para as populações marginalizadas que habitam estes locais insalubres e para as espécies de animais e vegetais que são extintas no processo. Sacrificamos florestas, o ar, a água e os animais em um sistema irracional de satisfação de necessidades, que avassala nossos substratos de vida. Esquecemos que os ecossistemas terrestres (desertos, florestas e pradarias), aquáticos (rios, mares, manguezais e pântanos) e sociais são parte de um macro ecossistema que se retroalimenta, profundamente conectado e interdependente.
Neste contexto, o Festival Internacional de Cinema Socioambiental PLANETA.doc propõe uma série de intervenções integradas de reflexão/ação que conectam a juventude em torno a novas oportunidades de mudança e construção de sociedades mais sustentáveis e inclusivas, por meio do uso da arte cinematográfica. Nossa missão como Festival de cinema socioambiental é mostrar por meio de filmes as práticas que estão sendo geradas internacionalmente para a promoção da sustentabilidade, com foco nas inovações que incidam positivamente na preservação e na melhoria da qualidade de vida do planeta. Queremos dar visibilidade ao conhecimento científico, mas também ao ancestral, evidenciando o funcionamento da Terra como um sistema vivo ao qual irremediavelmente pertencemos. O objetivo final é promover uma ampla reflexão sobre nossa sociedade contemporânea, possibilitar a difusão de paradigmas de desenvolvimento que já vem sendo testados em nível comunitário e o desabrochar de novas matrizes culturais.

Denúncias, Movimentos sociais e organizações ambientalistas; Intervenções: Políticas públicas e Projetos Socioambientais; Povos Tradicionais e Conhecimentos Ancestrais; Antropologia no Mundo Contemporâneo, Problemáticas e Irregularidades Governamentais, Vivências Decorrentes da Pandemia de COVID-19, Comportamento Humano e Questões Sociais. etc.

5 INSCRIÇÕES
As inscrições para a mostra competitiva são gratuitas e devem ser feitas online no site: https://filmfreeway.com/festival/PlanetaDoc entre 22 de julho a 31 de agosto de 2022.
Serão aceitas inscrições de curtas (até 25 min), médias (de 26 min a 59 min), longas (de 60 min a 180 min) e filmes em realidade virtual com temática socioambiental, realizados até oito anos antes desta edição do Festival. Não há limite de inscrição para um mesmo diretor. Todas as obras em língua estrangeira devem conter legendas em espanhol ou português.

6 SELEÇÃO
A seleção das obras para o PLANETA.doc em todas as suas mostras, é de exclusiva competência e responsabilidade da curadoria e da direção do festival. Para participar da seleção é obrigatório o preenchimento da ficha de inscrição e ter o filme finalizado antes da divulgação da seleção.
A lista das obras selecionadas será divulgada no dia 27 de setembro de 2022 no site do Festival (www.planetadoc.com) e em suas redes sociais.

7 COMPROMISSOS DOS SELECIONADOS
Os responsáveis pelas obras selecionadas deverão enviar à organização do festival um link habilitado para download aos e-mails planetadoc.international@gmail.com ou outra forma de contato indicada pela produção. Somente serão aceitos os seguintes formatos: Quicktime movie H.264 ou mp4 H.264. Todo material audiovisual encaminhado deverá conter legendas em espanhol ou português.
O realizador deverá preencher e assinar Declaração de Exibição, incluindo a dispensa cobrança oriunda de direito autoral por parte do ECAD, conforme rege a Lei 9.610/98. Essa declaração também deverá ser assinada pelo autor da Trilha Sonora.
7.1 Planeta na Escola
Os participantes selecionados no festival poderão participar em caso de interesse da divulgação de seus filmes na plataforma Planeta na Escola, (https://planetanaescola.com/), salvo restrição expressa de seu(s) responsável(veis).

8 PREMIAÇÃO
Os filmes selecionados para a Mostra Competitiva concorrerão ao Troféu Planeta.Doc nas seguintes categorias:
I. Planeta.Doc Internacional: até quinze filmes premiados
II. Planeta.Doc Nacional: até quinze filmes premiados
III. Planeta.Doc Santa Catarina: até oito filmes premiados

O Festival divulgará a existência de premiação em dinheiro, quando for o caso, em sua página da internet e redes sociais.
A escolha dos premiados será feita por um corpo de jurados composto por especialistas na arte cinematográfica, acadêmicos, pensadores e cientistas (entre brasileiros e estrangeiros), convidados pela direção do Festival, que assistirão aos filmes selecionados para decidir os vencedores por categoria.
A premiação e divulgação dos vencedores será realizada até o dia 31 de dezembro de 2022.

9 DISPOSIÇÕES FINAIS
A participação no Festival Planeta.Doc implica na aceitação e cumprimento de todos os termos e condições estabelecidos no presente Regulamento.
As cópias de exibição deverão atender às especificações técnicas indicadas pelo Festival neste regulamento. O Festival Planeta.doc reserva-se o direito de cancelar a participação de qualquer filme selecionado que não apresentar cópias de exibição dentro do padrão técnico estabelecido ou descumprimento de algum item no presente Regulamento.
A organização do Festival reserva-se o direito de exibição, sem ônus, em cinema e televisão, de extrato de até 3 minutos da obra selecionada, para efeito de divulgação do Festival.
