It was an honor to win the audience choice award at Pitch Perfectly for my narrative feature, "Home". I found out about Pitch Perfectly through a post on the Asian American Documentary Network (A-DOC) and I am so grateful that I did!

At Pitch Perfectly, I pitched for the first time in front of a jury and a room full of talented filmmakers. Pitching for the first time came with nerves as expected, but the community I met at Pitch Perfectly was so supportive that I had a great experience doing it. The workshop we received at the event was more detailed and practical than anything I received in my formal education.

I could really tell that the leadership team at Pitch Perfectly cares deeply about supporting emerging filmmakers, and their genuine support shone through in every aspect of the event. I am continuing to receive support from the Pitch Perfectly team following the event, and with their support and encouragement I feel much more confident that I can bring my script to the screen. Before, I didn't even know what the next step would be for my script. Now I can see the next actionable steps with much more clarity. Thank you so much to the team at Pitch Perfectly!

Pitch Perfectly ended up being a really worthwhile experience. Going in, my main goal was to sharpen my pitch and meet other filmmakers, and I feel like I achieved both.

As one of the filmmakers selected to pitch, Gautam and his team did a good job setting expectations for the day and making sure we felt prepared. The workshop on how to frame and structure a pitch really helped me distill my idea into something industry professionals could understand quickly, without losing what made it unique.

The biggest takeaway for me was definitely the connections. I met the organizer of a queer film festival who was kind enough to extend their submission deadline so I could submit my short film. I also connected with several filmmakers and people working in post-production who I'll definitely be reaching out to on future projects.

The feedback from the judges was also incredibly valuable. It gave me a better understanding of how to tailor my pitches and strengthen the way I communicate my ideas. Even though I didn't win, I left the event feeling energized to keep pushing *Jungle Feva* forward. More than anything, it gave me a chance to put my project in front of industry professionals, get exposure, and build relationships. I may even have the opportunity to collaborate with the organizers on future events, which is really exciting.

I'd definitely recommend Pitch Perfectly to any early-career filmmaker who's looking to become a stronger pitcher, get honest feedback, and find community with other storytellers and artists. It's a great environment to learn, make connections, and leave feeling motivated to keep creating.

  • I had an incredible experience at 'Pitch Perfectly,' and I'm honored to be this year's winner! Having attended many pitching events over the years, I can say that even in its inaugural year, this event is very well organized.

The day was filled with wonderful conversations and a genuine sense of community. While live pitching is always nerve-wracking, the pre-event networking helped settle the nerves and made the atmosphere incredibly welcoming.

The judges were fantastic, providing holistic feedback that spanned the entire spectrum from development to distribution. They were ready to engage with the group of filmmakers long after the event, showing a genuine interest in the audience. Every pitch was high-quality, and the feedback served as a masterclass for everyone in the room. It was well worth the cross-country trip from California to New York!

Really excited about what the future editions can unlock!

Pitch Perfectly was a great way for me to learn about the actual process of how to pitch your idea in the real world and not just to friends and family. There's so many more elements that go in to constructing a compelling pitch than I realized. The event itself was well put together, and everyone there was really friendly, easy to talk to and had such interesting ideas. The keynote workshop was super informative and I really enjoyed the interactive part of the presentation. Then the actual pitching showcase was really great, getting to watch 4 different filmmakers pitch their idea in front of a live audience to a panel of industry professionals was very interesting to see and I learned a lot. It gave me so many ideas for how to better construct my own pitch and made me reconsider just how much work goes into just an 80 second pitch. Overall I'm glad I went and would definitely go again next year!

I had a great time at Pitch Perfectly.

It was insightful to learn all the things about delivering a pitch in 80 seconds and also what needs to be in a Pitch Deck to attract investors and creatives.

The experience and feedback from the judges was invaluable and gave context into what they were looking for all types of pitches.
